The Meadowlark Lemons are a gritty funk, soul and jazz ensemble etched out of the streets and sounds of Chicago, Illinois.

The quintet is made up of highly skilled music scene veterans who have come together to create an exciting music based on their common love of songs steeped in soulful grooves and rich in improvisation.

The Lemons came to life in 2021 in a monthly residency at the world renowned roadside juke joint, Fitzgerald’s, and they have since shaped one of the top live shows in the city.

A true collection of virtuosos, they draw inspiration from The Meters, Stuff, The Crusaders and Booker T and the MG’s. Classic bands that understood the balance between groove, melody and improvisation  was the secret to an undeniably uplifting musical experience.  The Lemons have taken the teachings of these great bands and built on top of their foundation with a tantalizing set of originals and rare covers based around the groove and the joy and the Hammond B3 Organ.

As individuals, a short list of artists the Lemons have performed and recorded with include:

Dr. John, Jerry Butler, Jennifer Holiday, Tom Morello, Keb’ Mo’, Raul Midon, Duncan Sheik, Los Lobos, Taj Mahal, Chris Pierce, Yolanda Adams, Milton Brunson and the Thompson Community Singers.
